CINNAMON CHOCOLATE APRICOT GRAIN-FREE PORRIDGE BOWL

Good nutrition is not only good for our overall health, but it can support the health of our gut.


The gut is known as the "second brain" as it has its own localised nervous system, we most definitely can all agree that if your gut is not feeling right, the communication ends up in the brain. Our gut communicates with all cells in the body, which means that disturbances in the gut can show up as disturbances in the brain (and vice versa). Often you will come across feeling foggy, tired, perhaps you have noticed your digestion is not that great or you feel bloated.


Always aim in having a good overall 'Real food' Lifestyle, where there is minimally processed ingredients, listen to your body and if you have a feeling something is causing havoc with the gut. Try looking at eliminating those foods for awhile to see what happens. Always aim to get to the root cause. There is always a cause.


Identify it before you masking the symptoms.


Some triggers that can lead to increase permeability to the gut lining.


Added refined sugars

Refined grains that has been stripped from the bran and the germ.

MSG (These are mostly hidden in a lot of food/sauces)

Lectins, gluten, casein.

These all harm our healthy bacteria, disrupt the delicate chemical ecosystem of our GI tracts, can just upset the whole overall balance of the gut.


With this minimally processed breakfast bowl, I decided to use more whole foods and less complex Ingredients.


This delicious breakfast porridge has a good amount of Omega 3 fats, these help fight off inflammation.


It is mainly all made from 'REAL FOOD' our bodies love real food, as they have a long standing relationship and it is something that the body can digest without any complexity like processed foods.

Our guts love fiber, so why not add it to your morning breakfast bowl. Fiber resists human digestion and also takes longer to digest, therefore you not only feel fuller for longer, but the fiber ferments in the gut creating much needed short chain fatty acids. Keep your gut in tip top shape.



I decided to make a wholesome 'real food' porridge bowl that is free from processed Ingredients and refined carbohydrates, this bowl is paleo, vegan and gluten-free, for a keto option you can just remove the toasted coconut flakes and replace it with unsweetened desiccated coconut.




CINNAMON CHOCOLATE APRICOT GRAIN-FREE PORRIDGE BOWL


Serv: 2 Pax

INGREDIENTS


1.5 Large Zucchini peeled

1 Cup raw chopped cauliflower florets

1 Tbsp flaxseed meal

1 Serving of pure glutamine powder **

1.5 Cup Nut milk

1 Cup toasted coconut crunch (Cinnamon flavour) @cocobynuco

2 Fresh Apricots puree

1/2 Tsp cinnamon

1 Tsp vanilla extract

1 Tbsp Monk fruit syrup


INSTRUCTIONS


Blend all the ingredients together into a puree consistency (using a food processor) it needs to be a porridge consistency.


If you are having it hot, then add all the ingredients apart from the protein powders, blend and heat in the microwave, once heated add your protein powder and enjoy.


Both versions are tasty, it just depends on the season and if you feel like something warm.
